Babbacombe Palms Guest House Terms & Conditions

Prior to arrival, please read these terms and conditions.

Accommodation

Babbacombe Palms Guest House provides accommodation consisting of a private bedroom with ensuite shower room and shared access to our dining room where we provide, cereal, juices, tea, coffee, fresh fruit (depending on seasonal availability) and a cooked breakfast, including vegetarian and vegan options. If you have any specific requirements, then please contact us in advance.

Bookings 

To avoid any misunderstanding we would remind you that a verbal or written reservation constitutes a legal contract. 

Deposits 

Bookings and rooms can only be guaranteed once we have received the correct amount of deposit. 

A deposit of either the 1st night’s stay or 1/3rd of the full cost of your stay, whichever is the greater, is payable at the time of booking, either by credit/debit card, cash in person or cheque sent by post. 

Deposits are non-refundable, except in the unlikely case, where the booking has had to be cancelled by the Guest House Owner/Manager, in these unlikely circumstances we will repay any monies already paid, plus 10% compensation. 

Credit or Debit cards used to pay the deposit will also be used to secure the remainder of the booking. 

This card will be debited with any amounts outstanding, or to pay for any damage caused during your stay, including smoking surcharge as stated below

No shows will be charged the full cost of the booking failure to pay will result in legal action being taken. 

Balance Payment 

The balance of your payment must be paid by credit/debit card or cheque, at least 28 days prior to arrival or on arrival if agreed with the owner. 

Cancellation 

Cancellation greater than 28 days prior to arrival will result in loss of deposit, however there is no further charge.

Cancellation within 28 days prior to arrival the total cost of the stay, is payable. However with some third party booking companies, you can cancel up to 48 hours prior to the booking. 

If the room can be re-let then a reduction in the cancellation costs may apply. 

In the event of a cancellation, both parties should endeavour to re-let the accommodation. Should neither party succeed, then the person making the reservation is legally liable to pay the full value of the booking. 

In order to avoid this unhappy prospect, we highly recommend that you take out holiday cancellation insurance, details of which are available at your local post office, bank or insurance broker or by visiting www.guestfirst.co.uk. Or by telephoning them on 0845 90 80 101. 

Cancellation due to COVID19 or variants there of: - Your deposit is non-refundable; however, it will be carried forward towards a future booking arriving within 12 months of your original arrival date. 

If you cancel within 28 days of arrival the full amount outstanding is payable, however the full payment will be carried forward, towards a future booking arriving within 12 months of the original arrival date. 

Or 

If the room can be re-let by either the guest or Babbacombe Palms Guest House, you will be entitled to a refund of the difference between the full cost of your stay minus the non-refundable deposit. 

No reduction is made for temporary absence or for departure earlier than booked. 

In the unlikely circumstances that we must cancel your stay, we will repay any monies already paid, plus 10% compensation. 

If we need to change your room to accommodate other guests, we will ensure you get a similar standard of room or a free upgrade. If you have a specific reason for wanting a specific room, i.e. disabilities etc then please let us know so that we do not inadvertently change it. This relates to stays of 3 nights or less, which may have to be changed to accommodate longer bookings, which we may otherwise have lost. 

When rooms are cancelled by the guest, we may at our discretion carry your deposit forward to a new future arrival date, as long as the new booking falls within 6 months of the original arrival date.

COVID-19 

If you show symptoms. If you or one of your party displays signs of the COVID-19 virus, you must inform the proprietors immediately on 01803 327087 or message 07872 018515. You must self-isolate either in your room or by traveling home and request a test. 

If you are confirmed to have COVID-19 you must return home. You should use private transport, but only drive yourself home if you can do so safely. If you cannot reasonably return home (for example because you are not well enough to travel or do not have the means to arrange transport), your circumstances should be discussed with an appropriate healthcare professional and if necessary the local authority. 

Guests should follow government guidance on dealing with possible or confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) infection. Once you have returned to your main residence you should continue to follow the government guidance on self-isolation, household isolation, and social distancing. 

Please note In the event that you cannot return home, you will be expected to pay all costs for extra night/s accommodation, meals, drinks and services provided, plus an extra 3 days for room decontamination (as the room must be left for 72 hours before we are allowed to enter it, before it can be cleaned). 

If another guest’s stay is affected, due to your isolating in a room that they were due to stay in, we will find them alternate accommodation. In the eventuality that the alternate accommodation is more expensive than our room price then you, the self-isolating guests, must pay the difference of the heightened cost of the stay. 

Self-isolation means that you must stay in your room at all times, you must not use any communal or public areas and only appropriate healthcare professionals may enter your room.

Arrival 

You may check-in from 16:30 – 19:00 hrs on the day of arrival, unless otherwise arranged. 

We will take all your contact details prior to arrival and the balance of your payment should be paid 28 days prior or on arrival depending on what has been agreed. 

Door Keys 

On arrival you will be provided with a front door and room key. We reserve the right to charge a fee of £100.00 for replacement key should you lose your key while here.

Departure 

 Rooms must be vacated by 10:30 hrs on the day of departure. 

Door Keys 

Must be left in the room door or on the bar. 

Service of Rooms 

Rooms are thoroughly cleaned after departure, between guest’s visits. Rooms will be serviced during your stay, so should need your towels replacing, then please put them in the shower (please only replace if necessary to protect the environmental impact of washing towels) . Please hang towels on the towel rails provided in your room, so that they dry out between use.

Non-Paying Guests 

Non-Paying Guests are not allowed in the bedrooms at any time and must vacate the premises by 10:00pm at the latest, unless agreed with the owner. 

Non-Paying Guests must also adhere to the COVID-19 guidelines. 

Non-Paying Guests are the responsibility of the lead guest of the party they are visiting, any damage caused by them will be charged to the lead guests credit card. 

Damage 

All damage to Guest House property must be reported via email or messenger as soon as possible. The owners reserve the right to charge guests for any damage caused by them or any person whom they have brought into the Accommodation. 

We also reserve the right to charge for any excessive cleaning that may be required, for example spilt takeaway food, (which is allowed in the rooms) spilt on furniture or walls. 

Breakfast 

 We provide breakfast between 8am – 8.30am and 8.30am – 9.00am where we provide, cereal, juices, tea, coffee, fresh fruit (depending on seasonal availability) and a cooked breakfast, toast, including vegetarian and vegan options. If you have any specific requirements, then please contact us in advance. 

‘Take-Away’ meals must not be taken to or eaten in the rooms. However we are happy to set up the breakfast room in order for you to eat your take-away meal.. 

Smoking 

Our premises are classed as smoke-free premises, 

It is against the law to smoke anywhere on the premises. This includes e-cigarettes. 

Please Note. Guests found to be smoking anywhere inside the building will incur an £85.00 Smoking surcharge and will be asked to leave, forfeiting the cost of the remainder of their stay, no refunds will be given. To avoid confusion, hanging out of a window is considered to be, inside the building. 

Children 

Only children over 8 years old are welcome, unless otherwise agreed directly with the owners. Children under the age of 16 are not to be left in the property unaccompanied. They must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.

Dogs 

Dogs are welcomed to stay at £7.50 per dog per night, maximum of 2 dogs per room. Though we offer dog friendly accommodation, we ask that dog owners respect the fact that other guests may not like dogs or may be wary of them. 

Dogs are not to be left in the rooms unaccompanied at any time. 

Dogs are not allowed on the beds or furniture. 

Dogs must always be kept on a short lead and under control whilst on the premises. 

Dogs are not allowed in the dinning room, however we can if room available set up dining within the bar area. 

Dogs must be kept as quiet as possible during your stay so that they do not upset other people staying in the property. 

We provide a dog blankets for use during your stay. 

Please dry your dog before entering the building. 

There is a tap and hose at the bottom of the front steps so that you can wash your dog down before drying them. 

Dogs must be exercised properly during the stay to avoid any accidents. 

People with Noisy or un-housetrained dogs or who disregard these terms and conditions after accepting them, will be asked to leave, and will not be entitled to a refund. 

We reserve the right to charge for any damage to Guest House property or for any excessive cleaning that may be required.

Parking

Free on road parking is available directly outside Babbacombe Palms Guest Hotel on York Road.
